Let's double check your prep list

I'm not talking about big ticket items, like venue, photographer, decor, etc. We all know you had those on your list since day 1. I'm talking about smaller, seemingly insignificant items that you may desperately need to come to the rescue on your big day. Items that you may otherwise not have on hand and may regret not having.

So let's get into it!

Here are the top 4 must have products I recommend to have on hand on your big day based on my experience as a Nikkah photographer.

And before you brush any of them off, let me explain.

Black-framed eyeglasses beside lens cleaning wipes and packets on a white surface.
White eyelash adhesive tube with applicator brush for false lash application shown on light background.

Lens wipes for glasses

Eyelash glue

A packet of hemp rolling papers with natural green packaging displayed against a white background.
Two teal and pink Korean face mask packets from the Fear brand displayed on a white surface.

Shine blotting wipes

Fabric tape

Will anyone that you want a photo of be wearing glasses? If so, lens wipes are a must. So many folks think their glasses are clean after a good hijab or sleeve wipe, but amiga, let me tell you that those smears are 100% visible on a camera and will obstruct the view of people's eye(s) in photos. Even Photoshop might not even be enough to save those eyes. Definitely ask your attendees to clean their glasses properly (i.e. microfiber cloth and glasses solution) before the ceremony AND have these wipes on hand during the event just in case.

Eye lash glue is also a must for YOU, if you will be wearing false lashes. You don't want to be caught with an eye lash that is falling off mid-event. You should definitely encourage other folks that will be wearing false lashes to have glue on hand too, but you are not to share your glue with anyone else unless you want an eye infection 😱.

Shine blotting wipes are also important for you and any of the key folks attending your ceremony. That does include the groom himself. Because excess shine isn't the best look, especially if you're trying to print out any photos from your Nikkah.

Last and not least, fabric tape is also a must to prevent hijab slip and even a nip slip 👀. Even if you don't think any of those scenarios apply to you, it's good to have fabric tape on hand in case one of your key attendees DOES experience one of those scenarios. I've personally had to come to the rescue of a sister of the groom whose dress needed tape to keep from exposing extra skin.

Note: These items are listed in no particular order. I'm also not endorsing or recommending any particular brand. I'm purely using the images as visual examples.

FINAL NOTES

My intention in making this list was to help you be prepared on your big day. I know you and your loved ones are working hard to make sure your Nikkah runs beautifully, so why not take the extra step of getting these products to ensure that you're extra prepared for potential snags? And if you don't end up using any of those items, alhamdullilah! You can always return the unused products. Always better to be safe than sorry!

My final recommendation, in ensuring these items are used when needed, is to delegate these must haves out to a trusted relative or friend. Someone you can fully trust to break out the shine sheets when you need or give a lens wipe to an Uncle whose eyes are barely visible. And if I'm your photographer for the big day, let me know if you want me to help tag team these efforts with the person you designate.  Always happy to help when I can!
